Description
The Sigma Guitars brand was created in 1970 by C. F. Martin & Co of Nazareth, Pennsylvania. The world’s oldest and most traditional guitar maker was feeling the growing presence of high value instruments imported from Japan and responded by bringing in a range of affordable versions of famous Martin models. Some of these early imported guitars such as the DR-7 and DR-45 have since become collectors’ items in their own right.
Owned today by a progressive European firm, the Sigma catalogue offers some truly fabulous options for the beginner. The more experienced and discerning player will choose a model that features all solid timbers, a dovetail neck joint, and nitrocellulose lacquer. These guitars sound particularly good, and of course we give them a final setup, making them irresistible to those wanting an American style guitar at a fraction of the price. Shoppers love the very traditional aesthetic, and the close connection to deep guitar culture and heritage.
We’ve sold countless Sigma Guitars through the years, but if we ever see a used one it’s most likely because it was traded in on a new guitar — from “Nazareth, Pennsylvania.”
