Romance in D flat major Op. 37 – for Flute and Piano

$30.95

The romance of a melody instrument and piano was a very popular genre in nineteenth-century French salon music. Saint-Saens also wrote several such pieces for violin, cello and horn. His only flute flute was written in 1871, shortly after the founding of the Societe nationale de musique. In this new forum for piano and chamber music she was also premiered a year later. Despite its brevity, the piece contains numerous harmonic and melodic finesse, which made it quickly popular among flutists – both in the original version with piano accompaniment and in the later orchestral version. The Henle Urtext Edition is the first critical edition of this popular work in the classroom.
